Vande Mataram
An Ode Film
Shot and edited by Suswana
Directed by Jashima
Composed by Rianjali
About the Project
A micro short film, "Vande Mataram" is a Sanskrit phrase meaning "Mother, I bow to the thee," a phrase sung repeatedly through the film. The iris of the woman crying reflects the flags of Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Her tears are the pain and bloodshed caused by the collective trauma from the wars between the three countries. This is a call to the new generation of South-Asians and our parents to be better. Let's forgive and heal together.
