About the Client
Jean-Sebastien Surena is a poet and spoken word artist. 

In 2021, Jean was publishing his first chapbook, “Quarantined Thoughts,” a collection of poems he wrote during the first year of the pandemic. Ode advised on the marketing campaign leading up to the release of the book and produced the release party event.

We developed brand copy and identity including a digital presence through organic content series, influencer partnerships, giveaways, blogs and online communities. We understood the importance of getting the book into as many hands as possible prior to its public release to create excitement and buzz.

Within the first week after release, “Quarantined Thoughts” charted on Amazon’s top 10 African American poetry new releases. 

Content Development

We leaned into Jean’s love for performance and visual arts to create a poetry visual set to one of the pieces from the book. The film has been selected to 5 film festivals and has won “Best Poetry” and “Best Performance.”
